Lower Silesia
Located in south-west Poland, the Lower Silesian Voivodeship (Dolnośląskie) is a region with thousands of years of history and offers a fascinating mix of culture, nature and architecture. Thanks to its favourable location at the crossroads of important north-south and east-west transport routes, it is not only the most dynamically developing region in Poland. It also plays the role of an economic, administrative, educational and cultural bridge in this part of Europe. The region is characterised by its diversity: mountains and plains, rivers and forests, large cities and picturesque small towns.
Lower Silesia has been known for its mineral waters since the Middle Ages. In the 18th and 19th centuries, these spas attracted many visitors from all over Europe. Around a dozen spa resorts with a wide range of healing programmes have settled here. Two national parks protect the most valuable natural areas in the voivodeship. The Karkonoski Park Narodowy extends in the area of the Giant Mountains, while the Table Mountains (Stołowe Mountains) National Park is located on the border with the Czech Republic. In addition to the capital city of Wrocław, the Giant Mountains and the spa region of the Glatzer Bergland are well worth a visit.
