Mecklenburg-West Pomerania

Mecklenburg-West Pomerania is located in north-eastern Germany and borders Poland’s Western Pomerania Voivodeship to the east. The largely rural federal state is primarily known and loved for its nearly 2,000 kilometers of Baltic Sea coastline. It also is home to Germany's largest islands, Rügen and Usedom. The port of Rostock- Warnemünde is a destination for international cruise ships.

The state also hosts Europe's largest lake region for water sports. With over 1,000 natural lakes, with Müritz its largest, it is a popular holiday destination. Helios Hospital Leezen is an acute hospital for early rehabilitation and an interdisciplinary rehabilitation centre with a focus on acute care for critically ill patients. Here, patients are cared for and treated in all phases of rehabilitation - from early rehabilitation immediately after acute treatment to final treatment - with symptom-oriented therapy that is always tailored to current needs. The aim is to enable patients to return to their usual living and working environment.

Patients with the most severe, highly complex illnesses who cannot be treated elsewhere are given the chance to regain their quality of life at the Helios Klinikum Leezen. Patients in intensive neurological-neurosurgical, internal medicine and surgical treatment receive curative and rehabilitative treatment with a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic options. Since the earlier a patient arrives for rehabilitation, the better the chances of treatment success, the aim is to admit patients as early as possible.

The Helios Hospital Schwerin is a maximum care hospital and university campus of the MSH Medical School Hamburg. It consists of the specialist areas of somatic medicine with around 1,200 beds and the Carl Friedrich Flemming Clinic, which covers the entire spectrum of mental illnesses, with around 320 beds. As one of the largest clinics in northern Germany, the Schwerin site offers specialist care in the areas of obesity treatment, pain therapy, heart surgery and spinal disorders, as well as treatment options in almost all areas. It also has a certified oncology centre.
